Tracey Lakay

Helping people to recover and enabling them to return to their normal lifestyle is what I love doing. After graduating from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy) I have spent most of my career working in private practice and teaching clinical pilates.

I have had 7 years of experience treating a range of spinal pain, sporting injuries, rheumatological and vestibular conditions within all age groups including pre and postnatal, post-surgical and elderly populations. Three of these years were spent working in the United Kingdom. I was fortunate enough to treat in many settings including private hospitals (including one that served the Royal family), government run and private clinics in London, with a large focus on rehabilitation.

This left me just enough time to explore Europe on weekends.

Within my assessment I enjoy investigating and digging a little deeper to answer questions like “why is this always tight?” or “why does this keep coming back?”. To do this we need to not only look at your area of pain, but how you are moving or functioning as a whole. As a result, client’s will leave their appointments with a good understanding of their condition and the steps needed to return to function.

I am qualified in dry needling have completed an intensive clinical pilates instructor course shortly after graduating. Within my studio classes I have developed a special interest in posture correction, back pain and postnatal exercise. My confidence and passion for pilates comes from the success I have had with improving my own back pain through strength and posture exercise.

Sport has always been a big part in my life and I understand the importance of getting back onto the court or field in the shortest possible timeframe. I have enjoyed working as club physio for several amateur football clubs around the northern suburbs.

Outside of work I enjoy a good book, planning my next holiday or trying a new sport.
