Michael Edwards
I am originally from a small country town in the wheat belt called Kukerin. I attended Aquinas College before completing my Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at Curtin University.
My passion is Sports Physiotherapy, in particular disorders of the shoulder. Once I have established a diagnosis, and most importantly why my patient has pain or dysfunction in the first place, I use a combination of myofascial release techniques, joint mobilisations, dry needling, and Functional Strength and Conditioning exercises to reduce pain, restore function and prevent reoccurrence.
My injury management strategies have an emphasis on rectifying the cause of the problem, rather than solely treating the symptoms. This allows for lasting benefits, rather than just short term relief. My goal is to leave my patients with the tools to prevent reoccurrence and feeling healthier than prior to the initial injury.
I am fully qualified in Dry Needling and have completed Clinical Pilates training through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute. I also have a Certificate III and IV in Fitness, with 6 years experience of Personal Training. This has involved creating and implementing Strength and Conditioning programs for semi-professional sporting clubs here in WA.
I have also been a semi-professional athlete playing in the WAFL at Perth and East Fremantle Football Clubs for the past 5 years including representing WA as a junior. As a result, I have extensive personal experience in performing at a high level and negotiating a long list of injuries and setbacks along the way.
I bring a unique combination of personal and professional experience, attention to detail, and a friendly, empathetic personality to all my patients.
